The following itinerary is for those hikers who have 3 days to spend in Colca Canyon. I must be honest about this tour and it is something I do not offer too much since I recommend hikers to spend a night at Cabanaconde and it is merely to support the local economy. Nevertheles, The trekking for 3 days 2 night is fine for those who wants to explore Colca Canyon in a short time and you will add this experience to your trip. It is also important hikers must be in GOOD conditions and already adapted to the altitude, Here the itinerary.

Colca Canyon Trekking

Most of the travel agencies offer this 3 days trek to Colca Canyon. You will have good panoramic views and visit remote villages that are found in Colca Canyon. Keep also in mind that this tour is made but most people and you will always see hikers along the trek.

Cruz del Condor

San Juan de Chuccho

On Day 1 you will go downhill towards to San Juan de Chuccho. A small village situated on the right side of Colca Canyon River at 2, 300m. San Juan de Chucho hosts many homestays where you will spend the first night.

Sangalle

The most touristic spot during trekking in Colca Canyon. Here is where all private bungaloos are offering a place to sleep with a swimming pool.

Classic Viewpoints

On the way back to Arequipa the tour will make a few stops on the classic viewpoints of terraces in Colca Canyon and also spend for 1 hours at the hot springs of Yanque or Chivay.

Colca Canyon Difficulty

Colca is the second deepest Canyon in the world and the trek of 3 days 2 nights can be for some people a bit challenging and for those who are used to walk this is fine. I would consider the trek as Medium Difficulty. If you only have 3 days to spend in Colca and your conditions are ok, by Ok I mean those who does some sports. Distances in the canyon are shorter, what it might be difficult in the trek of Colca Canyon is walking downhill, uphill and some of the altitude.

What it also makes difficult of this trekking is that on Day 1 tour starts at 03:00 am and this is already exhausted to start the hike.

If you are the person who does not sports, not walks I think this is not your tour, but there are different ways to explore Colca Canyon and a good one it is to come to Cabanaconde and explore the area or see these alternative trek options here .

My recommendation for Colca Canyon Trek

Trekking Colca Canyon 3 days should be for those who have short time and with Good conditions. The advantage of this tour is that all the logistic will be arrange by us.

  1st Day

  Arequipa - Cruz del Condor - San Juan de Chuccho
  ( 6 hrs bus ride )

  We start the tour with the Tourist bus 3:00 am pick at your hostel. We have breakfast at Chivay and continue to Cruz del Condor. See condors for only 40 minutes. We start the hike from Viewpoint of San Miguel and start trekking downhill to the bridge of San Juan de Chuccho. We cross the river and we have a short uphill and reach San Juan de Chuccho. Relax the afternoon, lunch and dinner.

  2nd Day

  San Juan de Chuccho - Cosh - Mal - Sangalle ( 4hrs Trek )

  
  

  ▹	After breakfast we continue from San Juan de Chuccho to Coshñirwa - Malata, this part is gradually uphill. From Malata village we continue downhill towards Sangalle. At Sangalle we have lunch, dinner and stay the night. Relax at the hot springs

  Sangalle - Cabanaconde - Arequipa
  (3hrs 30m Trek)

  ▹	Depart early from Sangalle aprox. 5am. We climb for about 3 hrs. You can also ride a Mule for an extra.
  ▹	Breakfast at Pachamama - Hot Shower
  ▹	9am we continue with the Tourist Bus Cabanaconde to Arequipa. You will see the most classic views of Colca. Arrival to Aqp at 5pm.
  ▹	Or You can also continue your trip to Puno Tourist Bus Cabanaconde to Puno. You will see the most of the landscape on the way to Puno. Arrival to Puno at 7pm
